Exciting Date Night

Moving into an apartment, on your own, for the first can be scary, but it can also be a lot of fun... even if date night does consist of grocery shopping!

First things first, we had to fuel up for our grocery shopping trip. And let me tell you, learning how to cook can be a doozy. Last week, I spent 2.5 hours trying to make a Buffalo Chicken Pasta recipe I found somewhere in the world wide web. It sounded so easy. It was a big ole FAIL. I have never cooked chicken (boneless, skinless chicken breasts) before and that in itself was enough work for me to throw it in the trash and just order pizza. Note to self: one must thaw said chicken before you try and cook it.

Dinner had to be ready immediately when John stepped foot into my apartment because he doesn't get here until 6:00p. We needed to have an ample amount of time to explore the wonders that lie at Whole Foods.

I cooked boneless, skinless chicken breasts, four cheese (instant) mash potatoes, and green beans. It doesn't sound extremely domestic, but after last week, I was just happy that I didn't turn my oven into a closet like Carrie did on Sex and the City.

We just recently got a Whole Foods in Jackson, so this was a whole new experience for us.

The produce was gorgeous - wait, can produce be gorgeous?

Just "fishing" around the store. Too cheesy? Oh well!

And of course we had to stop and get some wine while we were there! I was completely out of Moscato!

After over an hour of grocery shopping, with a grocery list, this is what we came out with! I think we were quite successful. I have heard a lot of good things about each of these products, so I am anxious to try them.

Hope you all had a great Monday!

  1. Van's frozen waffles are very good. I've never had the whole grain variety but I like their gluten-free blueberry. Isn't Whole Foods the best? :)

    1. I like blueberries, so I'll have to give those a go after I finish these. And yes, Whole Foods is the best! It likes a whole new world of grocery items in there!
