My Christmas Wishlist 2018

John has the pro Vans and absolutely loves them. These will be so cute for walking around in Italy next year!:)

This color is one of my faves. My current bottle is old and goes on streaky, so I think it's time to 'lemme upgrade ya'.

For my birthday this year, John got me a new camera. It has been fantastic, BUT the camera strap that came with it cuts into my neck. This one looks like it will be super comfortable, and it got really good reviews on Amazon.

I'm mildly obsessed with Zoe's vlogs and her decorating skills. I can't wait to get my hands on this book!

Every time someone comes to visit, John and I take a picture with them and hang it on our wall. Our wall hanger isn't currently matching our decor plus it's falling apart. I love the idea of this glitter photo album to put them in.

6. brush
It was a toss up between the Wet Brush and the Tangle Teezer but ultimately I like the idea of a handle on my brush, so I'm going to try the Wet Brush first.

7. jeans
The picture edit I did at the top make these jeans look very unflattering but just go to the website - they look like cute, comfortable jeggings that will happily replace mine that have a hole in the crotch.

If you read this post, then you know I'm obsessed with my throw I got from PB. The shams will complete the entire look I want for our bed, plus I've been eyeing them for two years.

I reach for the same few studs I have and am wanting to spice it up a little bit with some new ones.

I have the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean and LOVE it, but I'm wanting something not quite so bulky to travel with and not as expensive. This toothbrush looks sleek, cute, and compact - exactly what I'm looking for.

11. mascara
I'm usually a drugstore mascara girl, but I've heard such good things about this one.

Who doesn't love Reese?!

The idea for these was mainly for Italy, but I think they will come in handy for whenever we travel.

I love sunglasses! These will be a great addition to my collection. I love the blue lenses too!

This is kind of along the same idea as a gift guide, right? It's very few and far between I actually put together a Christmas list (especially this early) but hopefully you can get some inspo from it. What are some things you are wanting for Christmas?!

*DISCLAIMER TO MY FAMILY*
I know that some of these items have already been purchased for Christmas. Santa John has the 'master list' if you have any questions about anything. Hahaha!

Holiday Gift Guide - For The Cozy Homebody

My first ever holiday gift guide is here! This was so much fun to make! Of course my first gift guide would be tailored for someone like myself - someone that likes to sit in front of the fire (or the fan if you're in the South), with her dogs, watching a Christmas movie, usually eating candy and drinking chocolate milk or hot chocolate, just depends.

Let me start by saying that I know this blanket is expensive, BUUUTTTTT it's worth it, especially if you find it at a Pottery Barn outlet on sale (which is how we found ours). This blanket is the perfect throw size. I'm 5'7", and it fits my length perfectly. I love, love the color because it's not your typical brown faux fur. Gray fits my lifestyle more than brown even though I want brown faux fur euro shams and blanket for my guest room 😬 The blanket also has some weight to it, which makes me feel like I'm being hugged. We recently had a friend come and stay with us, and he even fell in love with this blanket. If a guy tells you he really likes a blanket, the blanket is damn good.

2. candle
Besides Bath & Body Works, Capri Blue candles are my second favorite. You can't beat the Volcano candle. It smells incredible and is also one of John's favorite scents. I bought the larger version of this candle (which is $66), and the only reason John didn't kill me was because he loves the scent so much. The glass jar is beautiful, and the reason I splurged was simply so that I could reuse the container. It has an antique feel with a modern touch that is so pretty.

John's parents gave me these house shoes probably 3 years ago, and they are still my go-to. I've walked most of the fur off of the bottom, but I still love them. I love hard soles because I can go outside and not get my feet wet. It helps when you have to let the dogs out and one of them is across the yard and won't come inside. I'm looking at you Layla.

For my babes in the South and my hot natured babes, these sleep shorts are for you. I think I own 7 pairs of them and used to keep them on repeat (back when dis ass fit in a XXL instead of a 2x - yes there is a difference - no I didn't know there was a difference). I now see they come in a plus size version, and they are now added to my Christmas list (size 3x please family).

For the babes that live in the cold or are cold natured, get you these leggings. They are perfect for lounging around the house and going out. They suck you in, in all the right places, and I love that you can throw on a long shirt and some cute booties and go out on the town when you get that whim. You might even get a whim to wear them with your house shoes and just run to the store, and I say that is fine too. I don't judge. If it weren't for my husband, I'd be right there with you.

When you're in your comfy mood, you want to have a comfy shirt to go with it. These t-shirts are what you need. I have 2 of them, and I can't get over how soft they are. They wash really well and don't shrink plus they go up to a 4XL. I have my eye on the shirt linked, but I'm also wanting the shirt that comes out in December that says 'Heaux' (also size 3x family).

Oddly enough, I really enjoy wearing a pullover around the house especially with no bra. You can answer the door, take the dogs out, run to the store, and no one even notices. I have this pullover in a teal color with blue details that I really love, and I recently bought a pullover from SAMs that I really love but can't find anywhere. The brand is Souther Grit, and it's a cream and brown aztec print. It's probably at least half the price of the one linked and just as good. I just bought it 2 weeks ago, so I'm sure they are still there. The internet is acting like they have never heard of this brand before, but I know it's out there people.

8. robe
I have tried to be a robe person, but I can't get into it. If I were though, I would get this one. It's extremely soft and has pockets!

While lounging around, I eventually put my hair up in a ponytail or messy bun. I love doing that with scrunchies. They make me feel cute when I'm looking like a bag of assholes. I also like that I don't feel like my hair is breaking like with a normal ponytail holder, and they actually hold my hair in place.

Lastly while lounging, I normally paint my nails (at least lately I have been). I cannot rave enough about Essie's gel nail polish. I'm a pharmacy technician and constantly using my hands. This nail polish lasts around 6-7 days on me!!!!! That's a big deal. I use the Essie gel polish, apply 2 coats, then apply the gel topcoat. I wait about 2 minutes in between each coat. Trust me, your cozy, nail polish friend needs this! It will not disappoint.

First Time at a Comedy Club

Last night, John and I went to see Whitney Cummings at Helium Comedy Club. This was my first comedy show to ever go to, and to be honest, I was kind of nervous. I didn't want to be "called out" by any of the comedians. Center of attention doesn't look good on me, mainly because my cheeks will look like Santa's. From watching tv shows and movies, I knew I didn't want to sit in the front and I shouldn't get up to go to the bathroom because that's who they prey on. It really wasn't bad at all for those particular people, but I was happy to stay out of dodge:)

I thought the shows were really good. Notice, I said shows. There is an opening act to the main act at a comedy club. Whitney's opening act was Alexis Guerreros, and I thought he was really good. I wasn't sure how I would like the opening act because we don't "know" the person, but he turned out to be great. The opening act helps get the crowd's laughing box tickled and ready for the main act. That was something I didn't know. I also didn't know that each person had to purchase at least two items from the menu which can get kind of pricey.

I love how you forget that the person you are watching is actually a celebrity and how it feels almost like a conversation with that person. I like the personal feel of it and how they feed off of the audience. The crowd was a little on the quieter side (according to the comedians), so I feel like it was difficult for the comedians to get going.

I would say my overall experience was good, not great. I would love to go to another show with maybe a bigger audience to see if that helps any. Both comedians were really good, and I laughed the entire time. I just wanted to belly laugh at something, and it didn't happen for me.

September iPhone Picture Dump

This September has been an absolute whirlwind that has come and gone, but I have loved every minute it! I thought it would be appropriate to share some pictures of this past month since I've been a little absent.

At the beginning of September, John's dad and step-mom came to visit for John's dad's birthday! We had the best time catching up and showing them around our area. The next weekend John and I took a much needed trip home to Mississippi. We didn't get to make the friend round this time, but we got to see a ton of family! His family visiting the weekend before and going to Mississippi the second weekend was just what this girl needed especially after feeling so homesick for a while.
Layla and Penny are always such good car riders, but they were super antsy this trip. I think they were just ready to get out of the car. I mean, I get it. You're sharing a nice, egg crate mattress with your sister who you want to sleep next to with your favorite toys and a momma who is constantly turning around and petting you. It makes perfect sense.
As you can see from above, Penny was extremely excited to get back into a swimming pool. She drank enough water to last her for about a month. Poor thing. She was recently diagnosed with Cushing Disease and one of the symptoms is drinking a lot of water.
On this Mississippi trip, I got to see my sweet Sophie, who turned 10 on September 7th and my sweet Bell! I don't know who was more excited, me, them, or my parents.

TSWIFT CONCERT!
This was my first Taylor Swift concert, and it was absolutely incredible! Charli XCX also killed the opening act! There was a dad and daughter duo standing in front of us that made my heart so happy. She was singing at the top of her lungs and her dad was right beside her enjoying every minute of it.

September 22nd was John's birthday!
I had to work for the first half of John's birthday (he also decided to cut the grass - who does that on their birthday?), but after I got home, birthday celebrations commenced! We started off by opening presents in the cozy room. Layla and Penny watched John read every single card and open up each present. It was the perfect family affair.
After opening presents, we drove to Micro Center for John to spend his birthday money on new parts for the computer he is building. We then went to Miniature Market to have a snoop around to see if he needed anything. Next, John wanted to rent a movie and eat Japanese food. We ate at Shogun, and John treated himself to an extra helping of rice. We then made our way to Family Video to rent Justice League, but before heading home, we had to make a quick stop to pick up the frozen cheesecake he wanted for his birthday cake. We bought individual slices, so he could try several different flavors. After finally getting home, we couldn't bring ourselves to watch Justice League because we were so tired and full, but we watched it the next day!:)
John's brother, wife, and baby came into town the next weekend and ermahgerd, baby fever hit hard! This kid is freaking adorable, and I feel like I need one! We made a trip out to Eckert's to get some pumpkins and eat at their restaurant. It was really good! Apple butter is my new fave. We enjoyed having them in town so much, just getting to hangout and visit was the perfect ending to a great month!
We finished off the last day of September by getting some our Halloween/fall decorations together. They were 1/2 off at Eckert's on the weekend we went, so we loaded up!

October is now in full swing around our house.. well, at least on the inside. On the outside, it's running high 80s and not feeling anywhere near fall. What's the temperature like where you live? I thought I moved to a state that had more seasons than Mississippi, but this year is proving to be otherwise:)

House Tour: Cozy Room

Welcome to our cozy room! This room is one of my absolute favorite rooms in our house, not because it's the only one that is pretty much done, but I love how comfortable this room feels. My goal for our home is for everyone to feel cozy, comfortable, and invited. We had some friends over from NYC last year, and our friend told me how cozy our house felt. It was honestly the best compliment I have ever received about our home. Our house is no way near done with being decorated, and she could feel how cozy it was already. *heart eyes emoji* *blush face emoji*
I saw a photo on Ikea's website that was my inspiration for this room. It was one of those pictures I could not get out of my head. I could feel the coziness through the screen, and I had to have the look! All of the bookshelves in this room are the Ikea Billy Bookcases. Our ceilings are 9' in our downstairs living area, so we bought the extensions for the 6 tall bookcases. We liked the variation of the high and low bookshelves. The low bookshelves gave us room to display things, and I didn't want to feel like the tall bookshelves were going to attack me. We also loved the idea of the lights over the bookshelves. They are the Ikea Lindshult. It adds a little more warmth to the room, which of course we love.

Decorating the shelves wasn't a big issue for me. I knew I wanted to wing it and let it evolve over time. Obviously we wanted to put all of our books on there because um, they are bookshelves, and surprisingly, we both have quite a bit of books for a couple that doesn't read very often. We also have a TON of board games because of my husband. Words from John: "The board games cannot go in the basement, and they cannot go upstairs. They need to be where I can see them and have easy access to them." I get it. I just wasn't sure how we were going to go about putting them on the shelves. To my surprise, I really like them on the shelves. It shows who we are and what we like to do (some of the time). Granted, the games have spilled over a little further than I thought they would, but I still like the look of it.
Another thing we wanted to display were our blu-rays. If they were tucked away somewhere, we knew we would never watch any of them, and if we don't watch any of them, then why in the hell did we pay money for them in the first place, ya heard. There are more movies that we have tucked away that are regular DVDs. We just wanted the blu-rays to be where we could see them because that is what we watch more of.

The wicker baskets, wire baskets, and rug all came from Target, and they have been the perfect edition to this area. Eventually I would like the entire bottom of the tall bookshelves to be baskets. For now, I only have two and that's what we are working with. The wire baskets were perfect to put our records in. We don't have a wide variety of records just yet, so one basket will do for now. The other wire basket houses our snuggies. They don't fit nicely on our blanket rack, so this was a great option!
One of my favorite parts of the room, that I never thought I would incorporate, is the start of a gallery wall. I wasn't a big fan of them at first, but when I pulled all of our artwork out, I knew we had to do it. Every piece of artwork in this room, besides the fleur de lis with the skull in the center, was all done by John's cousin! We absolutely love his work, and they are another perfect edition to the room!

We still have empty spots on the wall that we want to fill and a picture that needs to be framed, but we are just letting it all happen when it happens. I'm learning how expensive it is to decorate. That's probably why we've been in our house for almost two years and this is the only room that is practically done.
My helper decided to come in while I was taking pictures. She just wanted to be on the blog:) But really.. anytime I am in this room for more than about 5 minutes, she comes in here and lays down on the rug. Bless her!

What is your favorite room where you live?

Bath & Body Works Loot

I feel like the word haul is overused. When I see the word, I immediately roll my eyes but also get really excited because I love a good haul. I'm trying out the word loot instead. I don't know, but I think you get it.
I told myself, and John, and my credit card that I was going to skip getting fall candles this year. I have two left over from last year, and my dad got me this one for Christmas! It just didn't seem that I needed more UNTIL my sweet parents picked up two for me when they went to get their fall stash. They got me Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, one of my all time favorites, and Heirloom Apple, a new candle I had never smelled before but slowly falling in love with it.
With adding these new little editions to my fall collection and getting a 20% off coupon over the weekend, I decided I needed to get some fall wallflowers. I have always used wallflowers, but when we moved into our new house (almost 2 years ago), I never set them up. I was recently rummaging through my candle/smell good chest of drawers and found all of my wallflowers. I felt like I hit the jackpot. We bought a few scents for the summer, but um, hello.. September 1st means we can get our fall on over here at the Hubler manor. John picked out Caramel Apple, and I chose Apple Cinnamon Cider. We decided to just get two fragrances, so we could get some of the other fragrances we liked in candle form.
In my email, I saw that the candles were on sale as well as the wallflowers. With my 20% coupon, I was ready to go. On Monday, we conquered the BBW trip only to find out that the candle sale was over. What?! I already had 5 candles in my bag ready to go to the counter. John was like, "um, we need to make sure these things are still on sale because I don't see a sign." Sure enough. They were only on sale Saturday, so we compromised and got Vampire Blood and Hot Cocoa & Cream. I was promised that we could come back to get the others once they were on sale again:)

We also picked up the Ghoul Friend foaming hand soap. I am loving BBW's new Halloween scents. From what I understand, this is the first year they have come out with actual Halloween scents, and I'm here for it! They smell amazing! I also picked up two candle holders that I love! I couldn't find them on their website but hopefully they still have them in store!

What is your favorite Bath & Body Works candle?

Superhero Kimono

kimono (similar) / jeans (similar) / shoes (similar)

Hey y'all! Let me first update you on this past weekend. The po' boy festival was a dud. We were thinking there was going to be vendors setup for you try different po' boys, but come to find out, it's just a specialized menu of po' boys at one restaurant. I would like to go back and try other stuff on their menu. I just won't go back for the festival.

On to this super cute kimono. I got this a couple of years ago from a Torrid outlet in Mississippi. I wear it every summer with shorts or jeans depending on the weather and occasion. Today I wore it with jeans and closed toed shoes since I had to work half a day. I wasn't sure how the Vans would be with the outfit, but I got so many compliments on the look I just had to post it! I love how it flows when I walk. It honestly feels like a cape. Sometimes I run (lightly jog) a small distance so that it will fly in the wind. Everything I'm wearing is old:( BUT I liked similar pieces under the picture. My Vans are in ice flow, and my kimono was from Torrid!

John and I are gearing up for his family to come in town next weekend so that means a weekend of cleaning for us. I am actually looking forward to getting our house back in order. It gets messy and dirty so quickly and there are only two of us. I can't imagine children on top of that. I hope y'all have a great weekend!

Ready For The Weekend & Feeling Homesick

This week has been one. Nothing major has happened. I'm just over it ya know. However, for someone to be so dramatically over it, I've actually been pretty productive this week. We've stayed on top of dishes, laundry is done, did some returns, bought an anemone for our fish tank, shaved my legs, put addresses into my address book and we are going to a financial meeting later today. The return was kind of sad. We decided to part ways with one of the two blankets we purchased during the Nordstrom sale. It just wasn't practical to keep both, and John found a blanket he really liked from SAMs for a tenth of the cost. The only thing left to do for the week is to cut the grass. Yikes. That shit looks like a jungle.

I feel like I've been really emotional but not showing any of my emotions this week, almost like a zombie. Hey.. maybe my body is prepping me for Halloween. Lol. Jokes. But really. I've been missing home A LOT lately. I miss my dogs, my family, my friends, and I just want to go back. I want to sit in the backyard with my parents, drinking a beer, grilling, and talking about everything thats been going on, all while gettin' eaten by mosquitos while my babies are laying on the outdoor couch next to me. I love where we live, but nothing compares to home and the normal you grew up with for 26 years.

I am looking forward to the weekend even though I've got to work for a few hours on Saturday. I really do believe everyone is working for the weekend. John and I are going to a po' boy festival in Grafton, and I'm so so excited about it. I found out Grafton Oyster Bar actually gets their french bread from Gambino's in New Orleans! Whaaaat. Bring on the food, drinks, and sunshine!

Thanks for listening (reading?) my woes.  Have a good weekend y'all!

Roaming Thoughts of the Week - Eight

 {more bloopers from last week's blog post}

Roaming Thought #1:
I've been thinking a lot about babies lately. Hell, I've even had a couple of dreams about those oozy little things, but so many questions come to mind.. Like, when do we want to start trying? When do you have to stop wiping them? Those are two very important questions for me. One of our biggest hang-ups right now is daycare. It's like $1,000/month from what we are finding. *Home Alone face* Our goal is to prove to ourselves that we can save that $1,000. Once we do that, I think we will be more comfortable to start trying.

SIDE NOTE: If you are traveling with a baby on a plane, I've heard to give them a bottle while taking off and landing. The sucking helps their ears with popping. The more you know people..

Roaming Thought #2:
I've been thinking about my birthday a lot lately. Next year I turn 30, and I want to do something big. As of right now, we are looking at a Mediterranean cruise or a trip to Italy. My goal is to go to Venice, Florence/Pisa, and Rome. I've only been able to find one cruise, and it kind of sounds perfect. I'm a tad skeptical though since I've never been on a cruise before, and I just want to make sure that we will enjoy it and see everything we want to see. If I had all of the money in the world, I would push harder for us to just fly to Italy, but I'm interested in seeing other places as well. This particular cruise goes to Croatia, France, and Spain as well as the three places in Italy. We invited my parents to go with us! They are currently mulling over whether they want to cruise or fly. So far, I've heard daddy is cruise and momma is fly. They have never been on a cruise either, so this word is just so foreign to us. I see benefits of both. I just can't decide.

Roaming Thought #3:
I went on a bachelorette trip this weekend to Lake of the Ozarks and had a great time! It was my first time there, and I'm wanting to go back and take John. On this trip, I had my first ever pickle shot. Now I like pickles, but I'm not a drink the pickle juice kind of girl. Let me just tell you, it was delicious and refreshing. I have no clue what pickle juice or vodka that was used, but I need to make more for every occasion. Have you had them before? How do you make yours?

Roaming Thought #4:
Recently, I did this blog post about a couple of new tops I picked up, and it seemed to go over really well with people reading the post. Is this something that y'all would like to see more of? John and I had fun taking the pictures and trying different poses. I mean, it felt weird when people would walk or drive by but that made it even more fun. People were actually turning their entire bodies around in their car to see what in the hell we were doing. Doing the post also showed me that John can take really good pictures. Hey boog, you're hired! I will pay you by doing the dishes once a week.:)

I hope y'all have a great week!

Plus Size Peplum-ish Tops

{cute blooper}
Recently, I took a stroll through Lane Bryant to see what they had in their sale section. This is normally the only area I shop in Lane Bryant because their stuff can tend to be a little pricey, but I was pleased to see they were having a sale on top of their sale items - buy one get one free clearance. I did some digging and emerged with two tops that were somewhat similar yet very different. The fit of both tops were very flattering. They hid my kangaroo pooch and made me feel #boss. I love that you can dress them up or down depending on your pants and shoes.

I love the color of the pink top (it also comes in a gorgeous blue color) but the flowy sleeves won me over. I feel like a confident butterfly. The material is very sophisticated and blousey. It would be great for work or going out. The denim top is light and airy and could easily transition into fall, which I love. The bottom half of this top and the back ties are my favorite. It's just so different from what I currently own. [I couldn't find the exact denim top on their website anymore, but I found one that was similar and still super cute.]

The sale is still currently going on, so I might just have to pop back in and see what else I find! I mean, I still have $50 of my birthday money to spend.
